The Garden Club at The Stewpot was busy today potting up oregano, mint and lavender for the Earth Day Celebration. We also learned how to propagate rosemary from tip cuttings. Herbs stimulate the senses and bring back memories of old family recipes, of childhood and of loved ones lost or living far away. It is hard not to talk about food while working with herbs, so naturally our conversation centered on favorite recipes and how to use herbs in the kitchen.
We hope that you will be able to join us on Earth Day. While you're here, feel free to touch and smell the herbs. May they inspire you to try a new recipe or dust off an old favorite.
“As for rosemary, I let it run all over my garden walls, not
only because my bees love it but because it is the herb
sacred to remembrance and to friendship, whence a
sprig of it hath a dumb language.”
- Sir Thomas Moore
